Our Big News

We are moving to Bellingham Washington. Tom has taken a job with Logos BibleSoftware. Since I have known Tom he has contemplated about what he "really" wanted to do when he grew up. He knew one thing and that was that he loved the Bible and loved to study it. After going back and forth the past few years he finally came to some solid conclusions this past Thanksgiving. One he did not want to leave technology and two he wanted to do something with the Bible. After a very long talk one night we landed up on the Logos website and discovered they were hiring software developers. Tom is actually a user of the software. He sent his resume before Christmas and after the first of the year he had a phone interview. About a month later he had a follow up phone interview and within a couple of hours they called back and asked us to come to Bellingham to continue the interview. It has kind of been a blur since. They made him an offer on our trip there and the next day we flew back to Houston. The following day our house went on the market and two weeks later we were back in Bellingham looking for a house.

Here we are now with boxes everywhere and movers scheduled to come at the end of next week. I still don't think it has completely hit me yet. This is an amazing opportunity for Tom. In his words this is his "dream job". I was able to take a tour of the office with him and from the second we started the tour I knew this was for Tom. This job is meant for Tom and as a wife I am thrilled to watch how God is going to grow him through this. In turn I know that this is going to grow our family. We are leaving an amazing place, friends, church, and surroundings but we have taken comfort in seeing God's hands all over this decision. I naturally have been more nervous about this but both weekends in Bellingham I had nothing but confirmation after confirmation and comfort after comfort. Up to this point this process has been smooth. We had an offer made on our house after 2.5 weeks of being on the market. We now have a SOLD sign and will close the day before we leave. We found a beautiful house to rent with a landlord that has gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I have joined a moms group that has a message board online. They have been great, warm and welcoming. There were many aspects to this that seemed like a "long shot" but all those things have just fallen into place. God has been faithful and we are humbled.

There are lots of emotions going into this last week here. Houston/Pearland really holds a special place in our hearts. This is where we moved as singles, met, dated, got engaged, got married (well got married in San Antonio), and had two beautiful babies. Our community in Pearland has been amazing and we have some of the best friends here. I could go on and on about our friends here but I will save that for a different post.

So I started this blog awhile back and have done a poor job at keeping up with it. Well now I see the need now more than ever to keep this blog current. I vow to do this because we want everyone to be a part of this new journey in our life. We invite you to come back often and check our blog for stories, pictures and updates.

Blake singing ABC's & Twinkle Twinkle

Blake picked up my jump rope the other day and started singing. He told me it was a microphone and pretty much the rest of the evening was putting on a concert. It was very funny. The first song is a song he made up that he calls JUMP. I think he is trying to copy what I do at church. He does not quite get all his ABC's in order but lately has been singing his ABC's for a good half hour after we put him to bed so he is certainly getting practice. One morning we even woke up to him singing his ABC's in bed over the monitor. You will also hear him sing his version of twinkle twinkle. Like I have said before, there is never a dull moment with our Blake.

Lacey Ann is six months old today

Our baby girl is six months old today! Last night all four of us were on the floor and Blake was reading (his way of reading that is) a book. I sat Lacey up and let go. She sat there all by herself like a big girl. She is reaching and grabbing for everything, rolling everywhere, and loves baby food. Happy Half Birthday sweet girl. We love you and are so thankful for the smiles you add to our life each day!

Brother/Sister love

These two really do love each other. Blake is very sweet to Lacey and Lacey just eats up any attention her brother will give her. It is so cute to watch them together. Lacey will be six months this Thursday and it's hard to believe. Time has flown by fast. They are so much fun and bring so much joy to our lives. Blake is a laugh a minute and Lacey is just as cute as can be. I am trying to blog as much as I can but things have been a bit crazy with the hurricane. Blake's school finally got power and he started back today. Things are slowly getting back to normal. Before we know it the holidays will be here!!! I look forward that though. I LOVE the holidays!

We survived the hurricane

I thought I would post and let everyone know that we are doing fine. We evacuated to my parents and avoided the hurricane. The area we live in did get a hard hit but mostly fences, roof damage, trees uprooted etc. It's a mess but nothing like what the coastal counties experienced. There are some homes that have extensive damage. Our house did fine compared to others. We have damage on both sides of the fence and we think our house shifted a bit. We had our power restored within four days and headed back home after that. Things are slowly getting back to normal. There is a lot of work to be done but it will get there. We absolutely love our friends here and it was good to get back and see everyone. Thanks for the phone calls and e-mails. Keep the prayers coming for those who were less fortunate.

Funny book

Blake has a book called "Blue Hat Green Hat". Last night he was reading it with daddy and he thought it was so funny. Each page has animals wearing different colored clothing. At the end of each page there is a chicken wearing the piece of clothing on the wrong part of it's body. For example a shirt or pants are on it's head. Under the chicken it says "oops". So every time Tom would say oops Blake would start cracking up. You will also notice at one point that Blake is saying the color of each shirt....."blue shirt, green shirt, yellow shirt etc" It was too funny and Tom and I could not stop laughing about it.
